Inspired by the famous Czech writer and poet Karel Hynek Mácha and his poem ‘May’. I created an illustrated alphabet, in which every character illustrates words which appear in the poem. Afterwards, I cut the alphabet to pieces and rearranged them into new characters, which now represent the concrete stories.

2009.10 - 2010.01The fadeout chair’s legs seem to gently disappear, as though the chair stands in a pool of mist or fog. The chair’s back and seat are wooden, and the clear acrylic legs are specially painted by craftsmen so that the wood grain appears to gradually fade away. Usually, our perception of furniture is strongly affected by the space around it. The fade-out chair turns this relationship on its head: we can change the look and feel of a space simply by placing the chair in it. This was our attempt to design space itself through furniture.
Ron English is a pop pervert and prankster impresario, tweaking any nose that wanders within his grasp. His images are fun house mirror reflections of our increasingly bizarre popular culture, complete with weirdo lighting and acts of perplexing oddity.
